William Tompkins, 74, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND.
William Martin Tompkins was born September 11, 1932 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Edward and Gertrude (Winter) Tompkins. He was raised in Jamestown and attended St. John's Academy, graduating in 1951. On July 21, 1956, he married Janet Johnson in Jamestown where they made their home. In 1957, he entered the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, Following his discharge in 1958, he returned to Jamestown where he began work for Ray Everett of Everett & Associates, Inc. Not long after, he and several others purchased the company. Janet died on October 26, 1988. He retired in 1995 as president of the company.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Barbara (Randy) Peterson, Carrington, ND; Bette (John) Thielges, Jamestown, ND; 4 grandchildren: Jana and Miranda Peterson, Carrington and Taylor and Ben Thielges, Jamestown, ND and a sister, Mary Lou Seekerson, rural Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral - 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2006 at The Basilica Of St. James, Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December, 21, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - noon to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment - Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
