Blanche Readel

Blanche Weatherly Readel, 90, Jamestown, ND, passed away on April 27, 2015 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Blanche was born on July 28, 1924 at Elkton, SD to Floyd and Minnie (Worth) Weatherly. As a young girl, she moved with her parents and siblings to the Buchanan area in 1927 and received her education in local rural schools and in Jamestown. On June 3, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ray Readel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fried, ND. The first year of their marriage they lived and started farming with Ray’s parents on the farm that was homesteaded by Ray’s father, Thomas. Ray and Blanche farmed together for 38 years until his death on November 2, 1980. She continued to live on the farm until her and her second husband, Gordon Falk, moved into Jamestown. Gordon passed away on September 20, 1996. Blanche was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active in church and Alter Society. She served for six years on the Ashland School Board. Blanche enjoyed and loved her family, her garden, and farming in general. She was a caring mother and grandmother, always called and remembered fondly as “Grandma Blanche.”

Blanche is survived by her three children, Donald (Jackie) Readel, Larry (Nadine) Readel, and Gayle (Marvin) Frey, all of Jamestown; 9 grandchildren, Colleen, Tom, Lisa, Wade, Todd, Torye, Matthew, Grant, and Kristin; 15 great- grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her parents; three brothers, Ronald, Earl, and John Weatherly; two brothers-in-law, and seven sisters-in-law. She was the last of the Floyd and Minnie Weatherly family.

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.

Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at All Soul’s Chapel, Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fried, ND.
