Bonnie Mathias

December 14, 1942 — January 31, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Bonnie Sharon Mathias, of Bismarck, ND, formerly Jamestown, ND, announce her sudden passing on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the age of 82.

She was born in Tacoma, WA on December 14, 1942, the daughter of Floyd and Virginia Jodsaas. Bonnie grew up in Oakes, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1961. On September 2nd of that same year, she married Roger Henry Mathias, beginning a loving relationship that lasted 57 years. Together, they raised four children- Kathy, Brenda, Bruce, and Bob- fondly remembered as "Bren-Bru-Bob." Bonnie and Roger made their home in Oakes until moving to Jamestown, ND in 1991. Bonnie enjoyed working at the Oakes

Community Hospital for many years and worked at Ave Maria Nursing Home in Jamestown. Throughout her life, Bonnie was known for her remarkable talents as a seamstress. She lovingly created countless Christmas and Easter outfits for her family- usually matching ensembles that became treasured memories. Quilting became her favorite past time. Bonnie's quilts remain cherished keepsakes for her loved ones. Bonnie raised her children with great love. She taught us many life skills and supported her family in the extracurricular events they enjoyed. She continued that love and support with her grandchildren as well, attending as many events as she could. Her great-grandchildren also received the same

love and support. Bonnie enjoyed sharing what everyone was up to with her friends and family. She was a lovely, kind, and caring woman.

Bonnie and Roger enjoyed many years of camping, boating and fishing. Bonnie even got involved in tractor parades with Roger. At retirement they took their 5th wheel camper south for the winter,  later purchasing a home in Arizona. Bonnie enjoyed putting together  many holiday and deer hunting meals. We all enjoyed her meals and especially the desserts  she made. She had her family together, it meant everything to her. Bonnie moved to Bismarck, ND in September 2021 to be with family.

Bonnie is survived by daughters Kathleen Wood, Bismarck,  ND, and Brenda  (Harry) Tyre, Fargo, ND, sons Bruce, Bismarck,  ND and Robert  (Jenny) Jamestown, ND. Seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law  Ernie (Carol) Mathias and family and Sister-in-law Lorna Mathias.

Bonnie is proceeded in death by her husband,  Roger; son-in-law Todd Wood; daughter-in law Jen Dupree-Mathias; parents Floyd and Virginia; sister and Brother-in-law Eunice and Larry Palmer; parents-in-law Henry and Martha Mathias; and niece Tracie Ruch.
