Bruce Owen Bjugstad

Bruce Owen Bjugstad, 46, died April 24, 2008 at his home in El Sobrante, California after a long battle with heart problems.

Bruce was born on December 19, 1961 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of Paul Oscar and Ruth Kathern Job-Bjugstad. Bruce graduated from Jamestown High School in the spring of 1981. He moved to El Sobrante, California in the summer of 1981 to live with his aunt, Evelyn Bjugstad. He worked for a private construction company until 2006 when his health forced him to quit working. He was a master staircase builder.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, and loved gardening exotic roses and rare cactuses. He enjoyed makery pottery and woodworking for his family and friends. He had a love for dogs, especially his dog, Charlie.

Bruce is survived by three sisters, Nora (John) Risbrudt, Maple Grove, MN, Lora (Jerry) Fisher, Jamestown, ND and Linda (Laurin) O'Keefe, Vanalstyne, TX; one brother, Fred (Jolene) Bjugstad, Jamestown, ND; four nieces, Rachel Fisher, Oakes, ND, Ashley Bjugstad, Grand Forks, ND, Kelly and Kristy O'Keefe, Vanalstyne, TX; three nephews, Ryan (Tawyna) Fisher, Jamestown, ND, Aaron (Tara) Bjugstad, Grand Forks, ND, Andrew Bjugstad, Jamstown, ND; one great niece, Sidney Fisher, Jamestown, ND; five aunts and three uncles, Kenneth and Eunice Bjugstad, Finley, ND, Albert and Margaret Hofmann and Lenora Job, Medina, ND, Inez Job, Jamestown, ND; and Delores and Kenneth Reed, Richvale, CA. He is also survived by several cousins.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

As requested by Bruce, to help others learn from his heart condition, he donated his body to science at the University of California, San Francisco.

Memorial Service: 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, North Dakota.
