Bruce Douglas Tarno

June 30, 1950 — March 5, 2011

Bruce Douglas Tarno, 60, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo, due to complications from cancer.

Bruce was born June 30, 1950, in Jamestown, the son of Bernard ""Bud"" and Delora ""Del"" (Oster) Tarno. He grew up in Jamestown, attended Jamestown schools and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1968. He worked various jobs during high school. On July 11, 1969 Bruce married Rhonda Leir in Jamestown. They lived in Bismarck for three years where he worked as a photographer for the ND State Highway Dept. Bruce was a member of the North Dakota National Guard for 10 years. In 1972 they moved back to Jamestown where they raised their three children. He worked for Tarno Distributing Co. and later became co-owner and president of Tarno Distributing Co.

Bruce had early interests in music and enjoyed playing the drums. He liked to spend time with his family and friends at the cabin, casinos and various local establishments. He also liked to hunt and fish. Bruce was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, American Legion, AmVets, Eagles, Elks, Dakota Anglers, United Sportsmen and was a past officer of the ND Beer Wholesalers Assn.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Rhonda, Jamestown; one daughter, Lori Tarno (Joe Guthmiller), Jamestown; two sons, Todd Tarno, Hannaford, ND and Ryan Tarno (Amber Fode), Jamestown; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three brothers, Gregory Neal (Libby) Tarno and Bill Dean (Kathy) Tarno, both of Jamestown and Scott Lee (Katrina) Tarno, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kevin, in infancy.
