Burnette Owen Bomstad

Burnette ""Burnie"" Owen Bomstad, 68, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Burnie was born April 21, 1940 in Stanley, ND, the son of Edward and Hazel (Peterson) Bomstad. He grew up in the Stanley area and graduated from Stanley High School. Burnie married Beverly Carlson. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science and worked for Sturdevant Auto Parts in Wahpeton. Burnie worked for the Globe Gazette in Wahpeton for many years. He also owned and operated Burnie's Business Promotions and Products. On August 17, 1972 Burnie married Ramona Young in Aberdeen, SD.

He was a member of the Elks and the Perkin's Coffee Club. Burnie enjoyed baseball, football and basketball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his great-granddaughter, Raegen.

Burnie is survived by his wife, Ramona, Edgeley, ND; seven children, Ryan (Kim Breuer) Bomstad, West Fargo, ND, Jeff Bomstad, Fargo, ND, Jana McLean and Joel Bomstad, both of Moorcroft, WY, J.P. Smith, Jamestown, Pennie (Tom) Schmidt, Moorhead, MN and Cyd (Mark) Renner, Edgeley, ND; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ilene (Bill) Hamre, Williston, ND and Lorraine (Howard) Sauter, Mandan, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Floyd, and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Don Wolford.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Kenrad Pederson officiating.

Visitaton: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
