Charles H. Koenig, 79, Pingree, North Dakota died Monday, September 26, 2005 at Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown.
Mr. Koenig was born March 24, 1926 in Cleveland, North Dakota the son of John Henry and Wilhelmina (Braasch) Koenig. He received his education in country schools in the Jamestown area. Charles entered the US Army on February 16, 1945 and served during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Upon his discharge in September 1946 he returned to the Spiritwood area where he lived and worked for area farmers. On June 2, 1960 Charles married Gloria Stoppleworth in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to the Pingree area where their home as been since. While living in Pingree, Charles worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Lucas Aerospace, now Goodrich, until his retirement in 1993.
Charles was a life long honorary member of the Saddle Club in Pettibone, ND and the Eagles club in Jamesatown. His hobbies included birdwatching and bird feeding, playing his guitar and country music. He especially enjoyed his family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife, Gloria of Pingree; three daughters, Anna (Craig) Odenbach, Bismarck, ND, Natalie Joslin, Pingree and Tammy (Blaine) Guthmiller, Jametown; two sons, Charles Koenig and Allen Koenig, both of Jamestown; ten grandchildren and one sister, Josephine (Ralph) Neva, Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Valerie and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, September 30, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 6:00 PM, Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota.
