Christine Kruger

Christine Kruger, 75, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Christine Clawson Kruger was born August 13, 1932 in Jamestown, the daughter of Herbert Judson and Florence (Hurt) Clawson. She attended Jamestown schools, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1950. During her high school years, she was involved in chorus, playmakers, Blue Jay News and Radio Guild. She attended Jamestown College and Valley City State Teachers College.

She was employed by The Fair department store for several years. She married Martin Kruger in 1955 and moved to a farm southwest of Buchanan. She served as Hidden Township clerk and treasurer and Buchanan School District clerk and treasurer. She also taught in a one-room school for a short time.

She moved back to Jamestown in the late seventies and was employed by Stutsman County Social Services for a number of years and later by Dakota Clinic as an insurance clerk. In later years she wrote the column ""Perspective"" for the Prairie Post. She wrote children's stories which have yet to be published.

She was active in St. Paul's United Methodist church, singing in the choir, member of the Sojourner's Circle, plus other church activities. She was a member of Christian Women's Connection serving as Literature Coordinator for a time. She was a member of J-Notes Women's chorus for 25 years, also hosting group practices in her home in order to keep the group going. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Germans from Russia. She served as President of Jamestown Area Singles for several years. She played guitar and sang along with her partner, Ronald Brost, with a group called ""The Jam Session"" that entertained often at area nursing homes. She and Ronald also entertained as a duet.

She enjoyed cooking and baking, sharing cookies and pies with her family and friends. She was a reader, enjoying mysteries and non-fiction. In later years she helped edit a book being written by Ronald Brost about life during the depression.

She was proud of her family, children and grandchildren. She wished she could see them more often although some of them live in the area. Lisa, a medical technologist at Auera McKennan Hospital, Hartford, SD, and husband, Kevin Burggraff, and children, Jordan, Nicole, and Blake; daughter, Paula, owner of Tri State Sewing Center in Sioux City, IA, and husband, Loren Rudolph, and children, Laura (Seth) Cottrell and Lindsey; Mark, a farmer and rancher living at Buchanan; and Eric, a mechanic, and wife, Nicki, living at Buchanan with children, Dylan and Ashlyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Michael.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2008 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Gary Ball-Kilbourne officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
