Clara Maria Walks

Clara Maria Walks, 90, Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Wimbledon, ND, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at her residence in Fargo.

Clara Maria Thompson was born September 24, 1917, near Hannaford, ND, the daughter of Knute and Martha (Jacobson) Thompson. She was baptized and confirmed at Eidfjord Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. She was active in the Ladies' Aid, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.

Clara attended Dover Consolidated School in Griggs County, graduating in 1936. She attended a post-graduate business course in Hannaford.

Clara married Raymond Walks on September 24, 1938, in Valley City, ND. They farmed near Courtenay and Wimbledon for many years. They retired to Wimbledon where they lived for 26 years prior to moving to New Horizons Manor in Fargo.

She was active as a 4-H leader and an active member of Homemakers Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Jolly 17ers, TOPS, bowling leagues, and square dancing club.

Clara is survived by her husband, Ray of Fargo; three daughters, Sandra Walks and Bonnie (Jerry) Asher, both of Fargo and Martha (John) Lana, of Germantown, TN; eight grandchildren; one brother, John (Esther) Thompson, Hannaford, ND; and one sister Marion Michaelson, Detroit Lakes, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clarence; and five brothers.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Eidfjord Lutheran Church, Hannaford, ND with Pastor Jerry Rosin officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Eidfjord Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hannaford, North Dakota.
