Clarence Hasse

Clarence Hasse, 79, Tappen, North Dakota died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Mr. Hasse was born February 16, 1927 in Valley Township, rural Tappen, ND the son of Reynolds and Hattie (Schenk) Hasse. He graduated from Tappen High School in 1944 where he played basketball and was a member of their H.S. team that made it to the state tournament in 1944 and he also participated in band playing the trombone. After graduation he joined his father in the farming opertaion. On November 11, 1950 he married Carol Koehler at St. John's Lutheran Church in Tappen. Clarence bought the family farm and continued to farm until his death.

Clarence served on the FHA board, township board, chairman of the Kidder County Wheat Board for 16 years and was an officer and trustee at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pettibone. He enjoyed woodworking, blacksmithing, fixing tractors and helping his neighbors.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Carol of Tappen; two sons, Joel (Ruth) Hasse, Clyde, ND and Roger (Cynthia) Hasse, Tappen; two daughters, Susan (Gary) Geigle, West Fargo, ND and Emy (Larry) Grieser, Shepherd, MT; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Frieda Hasse, Bismarck, ND and 2 brothers-in-law, John (Lyanna) Koehler, Charleston, SC and Warren (Joyce) Koehler, Atwater, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred and Hazel; two brothers, Donald and Ralph; a grandson, Ross and a brother -in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Sharlotte Johnston.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pettibone with Rev. Howard Lyons officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2006 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pettibone, ND.

Burial: Fisher Cemetery, Tappen, North Dakota
