Clarence Mayer

April 1, 1931 — March 19, 2010

Clarence A. Mayer, 78, of Jamestown, ND, formerly Medina, ND, died March, 19, 2010 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Clarence was born on April 1, 1931 in Newbury Township, near Medina, the son of Robert and Lydia (Moser) Mayer. He attended school at a country school in Bloomingfield Township south of Medina and continued to live and farm the family farm until the time of his death. On July 6, 1952 he married Donna Rau at the United Church of Christ in Medina and they had three children, Kathy, Clara and Sara. Later in life he met and married Lucy Bier on April 3, 1982 at the United Church of Christ in Medina.

Clarence was a hardworking man who could fix anything. He enjoyed farming, mechanic work, digging wells and welding. He was also very involved in his community. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and Eagles of Jamestown, the Medina United Church of Christ and the township board.

Clarence also had a love for dancing, especially polkas, waltzes and two-steps. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his dog, Orville.

Clarence's wonderful sense of humor will be missed by his wife, Lucy, Medina; three daughters, Kathy Meidinger, Medina, Clara Peterson, Jamestown, and Sara (Kevin) Falk, Tappen, ND; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Connie (Jason) Schneider, Harvey, ND; three stepsons, Roger Bier, Houston, TX, Terry Bier, Modesto, CA and Rick Bier, Rockford, IL; four step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; five sisters, Lorine (Clarence) Schlecht, Medina, Delores Obenauer, Mandan, ND, Lillian Schlecht, Medina, Marlene (Richard) Spitzer, Bloomington, MN and Rose Marie (Charles) Simmons, Colorado Springs, CO; and special cousins, Gene and Ramona Mayer.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Darlene Moos and two twin brothers, Elroy and Leroy.
