Clarence Spitzer

Clarence Spitzer, 86, Jamestown, ND died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Golden Acres Manor Nursing Home, Carrington, ND. Clarence Eugene Spitzer was born November 3, 1927, in rural Kensal, ND, the son of Adolph and Evelyn (Bower) Spitzer. He graduated high school in Kensal. After graduating he served for two years in the Korean Conflict stateside as a firearms instructor. Clarence and Delores Schlaht were married on November 22, 193. They raised one daughter. Clarence farmed in his early years of marriage on the family farm in rural Kensal up until 1960 when the family moved to Jamestown. He then worked for 32 years for the International Harvester dealership in Jamestown until his retirement in 1992. Clarence was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown. He taught as a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a soft spoken, kind, gentle and patient man who loved his family and would do anything for them. He was very mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything that needed repaired. He was an avid reader and loved working on crossword puzzles and reading, especially his Bible. Clarence is survived by his daughter, Renee (Tod) Hopkins, Sykeston, ND; granddaughter, Jana (Ron) Schimelfenig, Bowdon, ND, Shayla great-granddaughter and Ethan, great-grandson, Bowdon, ND; one sister, Shirley (Ken) Ceregino, Wilsonville, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Delores, brothers, Lawrence (Bud) and Duane and sister, Lorraine Florhaug.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Richard Biberdorf, officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 24 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery.
