Clayton Conley, 92, Jamestown, ND, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Jamestown, ND.

Clayton Clair Conley was born April 25, 1917 in Urbana, ND, the son of Earle and Winifred (Graham) Conley. He was raised and attended school in Urbana, and then attended Spiritwood High School and finished high school at Hannaford High School, graduating in 1934. He attended Hanson Diesel School in 1936 and then Valley City State Teachers College where he earned a Standard Degree in 1938. He taught at Heaton School near Lisbon, ND and Hanson School near Englevale, ND. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1940 to 1945 with the 8th Air Force in England achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He re-enlisted during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1951. On September 29, 1951, he married Rose Josephine Cannuli in Sampson, New York and they made their home in Urbana, ND, where he farmed until 1961. From 1961 to 1975, he was co-owner of Conley Implement, an Oliver-Moline-Massey-Ferguson Dealership. In 1976, he began working as a building contractor for Conley Builders. He retired in 1986.

Clayton was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Margaret York, Fargo, ND; 4 nephews and 1 niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Wes and Wayne and a sister, Merle.

Funeral - 10:30 Saturday, December 19, 2009 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND

Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday

Prayer Service - there is no prayer service scheduled

Interment - Spiritwood Cemetery, Spiritwood, ND
