Clayton J. ""Skip"" Humes, 57, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Skip Humes was born August 18, 1947 in Jamestown, the son of Clayton E. and Lavon (Heiden) Humes. He attended and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1965. Skip enrolled at Valley City State University and later at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. He entered the U.S. Army in December of 1968 serving during the Vietnam conflict. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal and the Air Medal. He was honorably discharged in December of 1969. Skip was a truck driver with Dakota Bake-n-Serve, Jamestown for seven years. He owned and operated Humes Trucking since 1979. On August 24, 1990 Skip married Sally Graffius in Austintown, Ohio.
Skip enjoyed cooking, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Skip is survived by his wife, Sally, parents, Clayton E. and Lavon Humes, one son, Todd (Denise) Humes, all of Jamestown; one daughter, Corrine Humes, Omaha, NE; two step-sons, Ken (Alecia) Grigsby, Bismarck, ND and Jason (Brandi) Grigsby, Masury, OH and five grandchildren, Courtney, Madelyn, Alexander, Alexis and Ryan Lee.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral Services: 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 9, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 8 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
