Clyde Christy

September 20, 1927 — April 7, 2004

Clyde Christy, 76, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Clyde was born September 20, 1927 in Jamestown the son of S. Powell and Bernice (Godding) Christy. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1945.

After graduation Clyde joined the U.S. Army and served with Battery B 12th Battalian in Korea as chief clerk. He was honorably discharged in April 1947 with the rank of Technical Sargent. Upon his return to North Dakota he attended Jamestown College for two years. Clyde married Deloris Andrews on June 10, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown. He joined Lindberg Construction Company as an accountant and worked there for over forty years retiring as general manager in 1989.

Clyde was active in many organizations over the years including: Jamestown Lions Club, Toastmasters, Jaycees, Associated General Contractors, Highland Home Cemetery Association, American Bowling League and Meals on Wheels. He also served on the Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church having served on the church council and various other committees.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, skiing, fishing, playing bridge, reading and working in his yard.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Deloris, Jamestown; one son, Neil (Angela) Christy of Plymouth, MN; two daughters, Karen (Milton) Conrath, Prescott, WI and Annette (Edward, Jr.) Schmid, Minnewaukan, ND; six grandchildren, Jessica and Michelle Christy, Ryan and Erin Courtney, Kenneth and Gregor Schmid, two brothers, Darrell (Evelyn) Christy, Sedona, AZ and Donald (Frances) Christy, Grand Forks, ND and two sisters, Leah Hagemeyer, Glendale, CA and Jean (Raymond) Harrie, Dana Point, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gordon and LaRue.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Jamestown Hospital Foundation or St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 10, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, April 9, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
