Cora Marie Orskog

Cora Orskog, 97, Edgeley, ND, died at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, ND on Friday, December 8, 2006.

Cora Marie Gunderson was born December 6, 1909 on the family farm near Fullerton, ND, the daughter of Peter and Mikaline (Frostland) Gunderson. She moved with her family to Berlin, ND in 1917 where she attended rural school in Willowbank Township and then Edgeley High School. After high school, she taught in rural schools in the Ashley and Verona areas. On April 6, 1931 she married Leo Neis. They lived in the Edgeley area until Leo's death on April 6, 1963. She married Oliver Orskog on June 1, 1974 at Zion Lutheran Church of Edgeley, ND and they settled in Somers, Iowa where Oliver farmed. When Oliver retired they returned to Edgeley, ND. He died on July 1, 1984.

Cora was and active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Edgeley.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Janet (James) Rogers, San Diego, CA; 2 stepsons, Richard (Regina) Orskog, Kirksville, MO and Stanley (Sandra) Orskog, Lee's Summit, MO; 9 grandchildren, James A. Rogers, Manteca, CA, Michael (Debbie) Rogers, Bend, OR, Judy (Chad) Elliget, Higley, AZ, Richard (Rose) Orskog, Bellingham, WA, Michael (Malinda) Orskog, Kirksville, MO, Deborah (Ward) Olhousen, Kansas City, MO, Steven Orskog, Independence, MO, Shannon (Lynn) Orskog, Leadville, CO and Shawn (Stacy) Orskog, Blue Springs, MO; 5 great grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren; 1 daughter-in-law, Bernice Neis, Bismarck, ND; 4 sisters-in-law, Agnes Hagen, Fort Dodge, IA, Janette Gunderson, Edgeley, ND, Margaret Gunderson, Hope, ND and Dorothy Neis, Edgeley, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 1 sister, 2 brothers, 1 son and 1 stepson.


Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND with Reverend Alan Eppen officiating.
Prayer Service: 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley.
Visitation: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lisko Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to services in the church on Thursday.
Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
