Cynthia Ann Willey

February 18, 1956 — June 21, 2019

Cynthia Ann Willey, 63, Jamestown North Dakota passed away Friday, June 21,2019 peacefully in her home.

Cynthia was born February 18, 1956 in Jamestown to Harry and Luella (Schlenker) Meyer. She graduated from Gackle High School in 1974 and continued her education at the Technical Business School in Bismarck, ND.

She entered the work force at Blue Jay Inn, Walt Sanders, then after 35 years of service at Otter Tail Power Company she retired. She had strong work ethic and pride while working for Otter Tail. Her coworkers were considered an extended family.

Cindy and Leonard met through mutual friends and enjoyed motorcycle rides and found their love for camping. In 1979 they were married at Emmanuel Lutheran church in Gackle, ND. They started their family in 1981 bringing home Crystal and adding Kasey to the family in 1984.

In 2000, Cindy was diagnosed with cancer. She and Leonard became active with the Relay for Life, where they became co-chairs for a few years. She proudly walked the survivors lap for years to follow.

Recognizing the need of local area support, Cindy was one of the founders of the “HHH” support group, now known as Jamestown Cancer Support.

Leonard and Cindy had a passion for camping and could be found out camping whenever they possibly could from spring thaw to freeze up. They were active members of the Roaming Buffalo Camping Group. They enjoyed many camping trips & activities with their family and the Camping Group.

Cindy was the oldest of 6 and was the mother hen of the group. At one point all 5 siblings lived with her where she continued her motherly love. Her family was the center of her world. She was overjoyed when her grandchildren Tamika, Rylie, Madison and Olivia came around. The love for them was overflowing and would do what she could to spoil them before sending them home. They have many sentimental memories with her from camping to just being silly around the house.

Her smile said it all, her courage and strength through the good and bad. Parkinson’s did not stop her from living life to the fullest, even until the last day. Being an inspirational HERO to us all!

Cindy is survived by her Husband, 2 Daughters Crystal (James) & Kasey (Brad), Grandchildren, Mother, siblings Barbara (Bryan), Jeannette (Gene), Bonnie (Danny), Alan(Julie) & Peggy (Dwight), many Nephews & Nieces, 9 Uncles & Aunts, many Cousins, God children and her Father-in-law Red.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Olga Meyer, Jacob and Christine Schlenker, Father,1 Uncle, 1 Niece and 1 Nephew and her Mother-in-law Ruth Ann.
