Dana Lawrence, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home, Jamestown, North Dakota. Dana Lawrence was born March 31 1918 in Jamestown, North Dakota. He attended school in Eldridge graduating from Eldridge High School. Dana went to State School of Science in Wahpteon, ND for two years learning his trade as a mechanic. On October 4, 1941, Dana married Opal Hooge in Wahpteon, ND. They moved to Jamestown where Dana was employed as a mechanic at R.M. Stoudt. Dana entered the U.S. Army-Air Force in October 1942 serving until November 1945. He returned to Jamestown working at R.M. Stoudt until his retirement. Dana and Opal spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Dana was a member of Good Sams Club and United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and working in his garden. He is survived by his wife, Opal, Jamestown; two sons, Jim (Deb), Charlotte, NC and Ray (Jody), Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Betty (Jack) Salzseider, DesMoines, IA; one daughter in-law, Tena Lawrence, Jamestown; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Al Lawrence, Jamestown, ND and one sister in-law, Elsie Lawrence, Jamestown, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Lyle and two brothers, Charles and Don.
