Daniel Schorsch

Daniel Schorsch, 71, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at his home in Jamestown.

Daniel Peter Schorsch was born August 9, 1932 in Mott, North Dakota, the son of John and Helen (Benoit) Schorsch. He grew up in the Mott area and graduated from Mott High School in 1950. In 1951 he entered the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952. Dan married Sherrill Hintz on September 27, 1954 in Mott. They moved to Grand Forks and Dan attended the University of North Dakota graduating in 1957 with a Business Administration degree. Dan and Sherrill moved to Jamestown where Dan began his association with the 1st James River National Bank. He rose to the office of President and CEO of the bank and retired from this position in 1983. After his retirement he went into partnership with Robert Mountain in Midland Investment, Inc. of Jamestown.

Dan was the Past President of the ND Bankers Association, the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce and the Jamestown Country Club. He was on the Board of Directors of Lutheran Health Systems (now Banner Health Systems), UND Alumni Foundation, the Anne Carlsen Center for Children, Jamestown Hospital Foundation and the Jamestown Hospital. He was an active member of the Jamestown community where he was involved in the Toastmasters, Jaycees, Kiwanis, VFW, Elks, American Legion, El Zagel Shrine and Mystics and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

Dan is survived by his wife, Sherrill, Jamestown, three daughters; Pam Schorsch, Grand Forks, ND, Peg (Dr. David) Biberdorf, Grand Forks, ND and Paula (Tom) Redmann, Bismarck, ND and one son, Bart Schorsch of Fargo, ND, four grandchildren, Alex and Max Redmann, Bismarck and Rachel and Leah Biberdorf, Grand Forks, one sister, Gen Ebert, Mott, ND, a sister-in-law, June Hintz, Mandan and a sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Reverend Dr. Lloyd & Connie Gunderson, Northfield, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Art Schorsch and two brothers-in-law, Curtis Hintz and Charles Ebert.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring people of home health and hospice.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, April 26, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Doug Opp and Rev. Dr. Lloyd Gunderson officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.
