Darlene Berndt, 69, Jamestown, North Dakota died in her home on Tuesday, May 6, 2003. Darlene Shirley Britzman was born October 1, 1933 in Jamestown, the daughter of Carl and Geneva Britzman. She attended school in Jamestown. Darlene was confirmed July 11, 1948 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Jamestown. On March 3, 1950 Darlene married Alvin Berndt at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Darlene worked at the North Dakota State Hospital, Jamestown for 13 years.

She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and she especially enjoyed her home. Darlene was devoted to her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her life.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin, three daughters, Susan Marie (Art) Dodds, Jamestown; Nancy Lee (Joe) Martinez, Colorado Springs, CO; Linda Lou (Dean) Harr, Jamestown, one son, Gerald William Berndt, Everett, WA, 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one brother, Don ""Butch"" (Betty) Britzman, Sparks, NV and one sister, Mary Britzman Davis, Las Vegas, NV.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Edgar, Glenn, Vernon and Roy Britzman.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Roland H. Gurgel officiating.

Visitation: 12:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday, May 9, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.

The family suggests memorials to Jamestown Hospital, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
