Darlene Olson

Darlene Y. Olson, 81, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away Friday morning, March 3, 2017 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND surrounded by her family.

Darlene Yvonne Alby was born August 6, 1935, in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Louis and Mae (Thompson) Alby. She graduated from high school and attended one year of college. Darlene married Ronald Olson on May 29, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN. She was a personal banker for many years for First National Bank in Grand Forks. Darlene was a member of First Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, and the National Association of Bank Women. She also was a member of many Bridge clubs.

Darlene is survived by daughter, Wendy (Dale) Thompson; son, Jeffrey (Renee) Olson; son, Randall Olson; daughter, Roberta (Terrance) Tucker; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Dave) Francis, Elizabeth (Dustin) Lauby, Anna (Tyler) Schlecht, Trisha Olson, Jennifer (Mike) Parkhurst, Lauren (Ryan) Christie, Tyler Olson, and Mikela Tucker; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Lyle (Gina) Alby; sisters, Phyllis (Jack) Carlson, Karen Gausen, and Cynthia Zacharias.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Alby and Jerald Alby; and one great grandson, Kyan Lauby.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Interment: Rindal Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery, Newfolden, Minnesota, later this year.

Memorials: May be made in Darlene’s memory to Ave Maria Village, 501 19th St. NE, Jamestown, ND 58401.
