Darrel C. Kramer

Darrel C. Kramer, 73, of Dickey, ND, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown after a 4 ½ year battle with cancer.

Darrel Curt Kramer was born July 19, 1938, in Dickey, ND, the son of Curt and Emma (Maisel) Kramer. He received his education and graduated from Dickey Public School in 1957 where he was on the boy's basketball team. Darrel enlisted in the US Army in 1957 as an infantry man. He was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia and Bamberg, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1960.

He married Phyllis Ruth Yanish of Cuba, ND on April 23, 1966 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Valley City, ND. They established their home near Dickey. In time, they built a new home on the Kramer Family Farm in 1975 where Phyllis still resides. Darrel worked first as a laborer and then as Section Forman for Burlington Northern Railroad in the various locations of Marion, Edgeley, Lucca, Nome, LaMoure, Dickey, Lisbon, and Jamestown. He retired twenty-nine and a half years later in 1992. He also raised cattle for a number of years.

Darrel enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards, gardening, playing guitar, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, Eagles Club, and Memorial Park Country Club.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Phyllis Kramer, Dickey; three daughters, Peggy (Stephen) Vandal, Jamestown, Rita (Mike) Jarrett, Jamestown, and Tonya, Jamestown; one son, Rodney (Cassie), Forman; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Paul, Jackson, Megan, Dawson, Avery, and Corbin; four brothers, James, Kirkland, WA, Cecil, Fargo, ND, Loren (Leone), Milnor, ND, and Elton (Lorraine), Jamestown; and three sisters, Marion Peterson, Bremerton, WA, Elaine Millspaugh, Jamestown, and Ruth (Jim) Lee, Elko, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Schwehr; and four brothers, Robert, Floyd, Maynard, and Harold.

Eucharist of Christian Burial : 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m.to 7:00p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Dickey Cemetery, Dickey, ND.

Memorials : Red River Valley Hospice or Camp Grassick.
