David Bear

David L. Bear, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

David was born May 30, 1924 in Jamestown, the son of Sabastian and Helen (Somsen) Bear. He grew up in the Buchanan area and graduated from Buchanan High School. On June 13, 1945 David married LaVonne Finnegan in Jamestown. They farmed in the Cleveland area until 1954, then moved south of Spiritwood, ND where they continued to farm until 1968 when they moved to Colorado. They returned to Jamestown in 1986 where they have lived since.

David enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a good friend of Pastor Shawn Bowman.

David is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Jamestown, daughter, Nancy (Stephen) Leeson, Jamestown, son Leland (Judith) Bear, Loveland, CO, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Shirley Linstaedt, Jamestown and Polly (Edwin) Schmuhl, Grantsberg, WI and one brother, Tommy Bear, Buchanan, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Robert, James, Mark and Donald and one sister, Doris Resinger.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Victory Lutheran Bretheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Shawn Bowman officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
