David T. Gray, 67, Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, January 2, 2009 at his home after a short battle with cancer.
David was born December 19, 1941 in Leavenworth, Washington, the son of Arthur and June (Thomson) Gray. In 1943, his family moved to Jamestown. David graduated from Jamestown High School. He worked in Sitka, Alaska for a short time. On September 3, 1960 he married Violet Volkman in Jamestown. They moved to Seattle, WA, where he worked at Boeing Aircraft, then was a concrete contractor for 17 years. Upon their return to Jamestown, David worked for 15 years at the North Dakota State Hospital, before he retired due to health reasons.
David was a certified welder, a member of the Teamsters Union, enjoyed working on cars, fishing, reading, and he loved his animals.
David is survived by his wife, Violet, Jamestown; two sons, David (Lynne) Gray, Commerce City, CO and Randy Gray, Jamestown; one daughter, Sherry (Gene) Rode, Marion, ND; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, John Gray, Louisville, NE and Art (Nita) Gray, Roswell, NM; and a half-sister, Merle Wraith, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Lynde; and two brothers, Leeman and Dan.
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Spring Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota.
