Dean Byron Gudmestad

Dean Byron Gudmestad, 67, Jamestown ND, died Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Jamestown Hospital.

Dean was born to George and Carla (Andersen) in Marion, ND on October 26, 1941. He grew up in Litchville ND and graduated from high school there in 1959. He attended Valley City State College before returning to Litchville and resuming his love of farming.

Dean married Diana (Fandrick) on December 1, 1961 and they made their residence in Litchville, where Dean continued his farming career and started his own family, raising five boys and one girl until moving to Medina in 1982. Dean continued farming until 1988 before working for several construction companies, moving on to working at Cavendish farms until he retired in 2007. In 1999 Dean and Diana moved to Jamestown.

Dean enjoyed doing many things. He enjoyed country music, watching sporting events, especially when his children and grandchildren played and reading. Dean loved telling stories, teasing his grandchildren and having a few beers with his good friends. He was an active member of the Litchville and Medina Wildlife clubs.

Dean is survived by his wife, Diana, Jamestown; daughter ShawnDell (Dennis) Gudmestad-Moore, Jamestown; sons: Jason, Wentworth SD, Joshua (Paula), Jamestown, Joe (Jamie) Midland TX, Lucas (Rae) Jamestown, Lane, Jamestown; and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeremy and his parents.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2009 at First Lutheran Church, Litchville, ND with Pastor Marsha Hegna officiating.

Visitation: None scheduled

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Litchville, North Dakota
