Dean Craig Linstaedt, 61, passed away at his farm due to cardiac arrest, Thursday, January 8, 2015. Dean was born December 9, 1953, to George and Ruth Linstaedt. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Cleveland, N.D. He attended school in Cleveland, N.D. After graduation he attended Valley City State University. After college, he worked as an electrician's assistant in Washington. He then returned to the family farm to work with his father & mother. After his father's passing, Dean took over the family farm. He enjoyed all types of sports especially Twins Baseball, Vikings Football, NDSU Bison Football, basketball, and golf. He played in NDABI Recreation League basketball and amateur softball and was a state champion in both leagues. His passions included talk radio, history, cards, sports television, and board games. Farming and the land were everything to Dean. Dean met his fiancé and companion Janice Eberle when she was a caregiver for his mother Ruth. Janice gave Ruth the opportunity to live out her last days in her home; which brought great joy to Dean. After Ruth passed away in June 2009, Dean asked Janice to stay on and continue living in Ruth's home and help with the farm operation. She and Dean worked side by side, planting and harvesting the land. He enjoyed Janice's family and was especially fond of all of her children and grandchildren. One of Janice's favorite quotes was, "A step parent is so much more than just a parent; they made the choice to love you when they didn't have to." They enjoyed fishing in his pond, ATV rides, lake visits, pontooning, and the girls loved the bunk beds Dean bought for them to sleep in at Grandma's place.
