Dean E. Whitney, 47, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, May 11, 2009 in Jamestown, after a battle with diabetes.

Dean Edward Whitney was born July 6, 1961 in Jamestown, the son of Vernon P. ""Bud"" and Marjorie (Kramp) Whitney. He attended Jamestown schools, where he was active in FFA and 4-H, winning many awards in each, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1979. On October 5, 1985 Dean married Rebecca Larson in Jamestown. They later were divorced. Dean worked at Duratech, Lucas Western Gear, Agri-Cover, all of Jamestown, Simplot in Grand Forks, ND and a trucking company in Sandusky, Ohio. He also helped area farmers . Due to health reasons, Dean had to quit work and was on disability.

He enjoyed playing poker, slow pitch softball, league pool and darts, fishing, hunting and bowling.

Dean is survived by his son, Jerad A. Whitney, Jamestown; two brothers, Robert (Freida) Whitney, Ypsilanti, ND and Lyle ""Butch"" (Darlene) Whitney, Jamestown; and two sisters, Linda (Leroy) Deede, Carrington, ND and Charlene (Duane) Kamphuis, Mandan, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and sister, Marlene Kuntz.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: None scheduled

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
