Delmont Ole Johnson

Delmont "Ole" Johnson, 91, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.

Delmont "Ole" Johnson was born to Andrew and Magdalena (Hazelton) Johnson on April 12, 1922 in Eldridge, ND. He graduated from Eldridge High School in 1940. Ole loved basketball and was a member of the Eldridge High School Class C State Basketball Champions of 1940. Ole married LaVerne Trautmann in 1946. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad until his retirement, and in his spare time he enjoyed working on automobiles.

Ole and Marian Berg were united in marriage in August 1968 in Jamestown. In 1969, after Ole's retirement, they moved to Elgin, ND where they purchased and operated Ole's Bar. In 1977, they sold the bar and moved to Dickinson, ND and they later moved to Killdeer, ND where they purchased and operated Buckskin Bar. In 2005 they moved back to Jamestown where their home has been since.

Ole is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marian, Jamestown; daughters, Debra (Dale) Vincent, Lincoln, ND and Diane "DiDee" Docktor, Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Derek Docktor, Fargo, Corey (Melanie) Vincent, Lincoln, ND, and Cassandra (Chris) Buehner, Bismarck, ND; step-children, Rena Hoggarth, Jamestown and Dennis Berg, Florida; nephew, Raymond Johnson, Eldridge; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Wesley, and Melroy; and a step-son, Sylvan Berg.


Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
