Dennis Tinker, 72, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown. Dennis Tinker was born July 24, 1941 in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Charles and Ethelwyn (Bender) Tinker. He attended school in Bozeman, MT. Upon graduating from high school, Dennis entered the Army in December, 1960, completed basic training at Fort Ord, CA and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where he was a power maintenance specialist in the 1st Signal Battalion's Headquarters Company. He received recognition as a top Army marksman by qualifying for the expert marksmanship badge during range firing with the Army's new M-14 rifle in Germany. After discharge from the Army, he moved to Anaconda, MT where he was employed at Anaconda Smelter and then moved to Jamestown, ND. He was employed at the North Dakota State Hospital for 31 years and then retired. On December 29, 1977, he married Mabel Carlson. He enjoyed mowing lawns. Dennis and Mabel enjoyed visiting family, taking parents to Wyoming to visit family and traveling to Minnesota to visit family. Dennis is survived by his wife, Mabel, Jamestown; sister, Mary (George) Russell, Casper, WY, brother, Chuck Tinker, Kivalina, AL, sister, Dorothy (Louis) Stengel, Underwood, ND, brother Robert (Peg) Tinker, Phoenix, AZ; three step-daughters, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethelwyn Tinker, infant brother, Carl, and nephews, Chad Tinker and Chuck Russell.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2014 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Randy Jaspers, officiating.

Visitation: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Thursday, July 17 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
