Dennis D. Waltz

Dennis Deliane Waltz, 59, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Jamestown Hospital.

Dennis was born February 12, 1951 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Herbert and Joyce (Larsen) Waltz. He moved to Jamestown in 1959 and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1969. On February 25, 1970, he entered the US Navy and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on November 30, 1971, at which time he returned to Jamestown. He worked for the North Dakota State Hospital for many years and then transferred to the James River Correctional Center, where he was employed at the time of his death. On May 10, 1995 Dennis married LaRay Batsch in Jamestown.

Dennis was a member of the America Legion, VFW, AmVets, DAV, and St. John's Lutheran Church, all of Jamestown.

He enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, and visiting with his many friends and family.

Dennis is survived his wife, LaRay, Jamestown; two sons, Danny Waltz and Eric Van Dam, both of Jamestown; one grandson, Dillon; one brother, Herbert Waltz, Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Bonnie Weatherly, Jamestown and Pam Woodall, Bonham, TX; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray & June Batsch, Jamestown; two sisters-in-law, Char Middlestead and Gale (Tom) Scherbenske, both of Jamestown; brother-in-law, Bruce (Ruth) Batsch, Valley City, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and three brothers-in-law, Donald Weatherly, Dennis Woodall and Vern Middlestead.
