Richard “Dick” Nelson, 82, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Christmas Day, December 25, 2024 at Eventide, Jamestown.
Dick Nelson was born September 17, 1942, in Santa Barbara, CA, the son of D.O. and Mary Kay (Murphy) Nelson. The family moved to Fargo, ND where Dick attended grade school. They later moved to Jamestown and Dick attended Lincoln Elementary. He was involved with choir in school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962. Dick enlisted with the US Air Force and was discharged after serving two years. He returned to Jamestown where he worked for the Coca~Cola Bottling Co. and then married Colleen Redetzke on June 18, 1966. They made their home in Jamestown where Dick worked for Western Gear and then Cavendish Farms until retirement.
Dick was a member of the Elks, the United Presbyterian Church and church choir. He was an active member of the Jamestown Choralaires. Dick enjoyed golfing in his spare time.
Dick is survived by his wife, Colleen Nelson; sons, Damon and Darren Nelson and his son, David and his sister, Jennifer; special friend who always called him Grandpa, MeLisa Roaldson; and brother, James (Sue) Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Bob Boyar officiating.
