Dolores Elaine Bagan Holman, 88, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Jamestown, ND died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Bethany Retirement Living Center in Fargo, ND.
Dolores Bagan Holman was born August 28, 1929 in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Walter and Alice Johnson. She received her high school education in Nortonville, ND and received a teaching credential from Valley City State University, Valley City, ND. She taught grades 1-8 in a rural country schoolhouse south of Jamestown, ND. Dolores spent a significant portion of her adult life, 35 years, providing comfort and care for the residents of Bethel 4 Acres, continuing to do so until the age of 84. Dolores enjoyed bowling (on a four-generation team), reading Danielle Steel books, ceramics, knitting and crocheting, tending to her numerous flower beds, feeding hummingbirds and raising koi fish at the lake and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dolores and Vincent Bagan were married July 19, 1969 in Jamestown, ND, where they made their home. Vince and Dolores shared a love for traveling, camping and square dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Vince passed away June 26, 1993.
Dolores and Jim were married December 29, 1998 in Jamestown, ND. They also shared a love for square dancing, playing social security (causing more than one heated discussion) and spending time at Lake Melissa. In 2013, they moved to Breckenridge, MN. Jim passed away November 18, 2015, in Breckenridge, MN.
Dolores was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she received the Order of the Rose award which is presented in gratitude and esteem to sisters for their devotion and fidelity to the ideals of Beta Sigma Phi.
She is survived by her 10 children, Kathleen (Randy) Merk of Charlie Lake, BC, Canada; Judith Bagan (Carol Bettin) of Minneapolis, MN; Victoria (Don) Halverson of St. Paul, MN; Diane (Kent) Warren of Jamestown, ND; Dr. Steven (Angela) Bagan of West Fargo, ND; Gayle (Cal) Gruebele of Breckenridge, MN; Kelly (Valarie Korfman) of Huto, TX; Kevin (Marsha) Crist of Tampa, FL; Curtis (Carrie) Crist of Fargo, ND; and Melissa (Ryan) Johnson of Barney, ND; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, 2 brothers (Sonny and Gerald), 1 sister (Darlene Jernigan) and 1 grandson (Jesse).
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at The First United Methodist Church in Jamestown with Rev. Elmo Herman officiating.
Burial: Nortonville Cemetery, Nortonville, ND in the spring.
