Dolores Marie Wenzel

Dolores Wenzel, 78, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Dolores Marie Tipps/Huebner was born September 5, 1932 in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Truman and Mabel (Parkinson) Tipps. She grew up on her grandparents' farm near Devils Lake and attended rural schools. At the age of 10, her family moved to a farm near Millarton, ND where she completed her education. She married James Wenzel, Sr. on June 1, 1954 in Jamestown. They made their home on a farm near Eldridge, ND where they farmed for a short time, then moved to Jamestown. Dolores worked for the Jamestown Hospital for 18 years, then the North Dakota State Hospital as a switchboard operator until her retirement.

Dolores was an active, life-long member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown and a volunteer with many organizations in Jamestown.

She enjoyed bragging about her grandchildren; her cat, Patches; playing piano and accordion and singing; working a puzzle book; and visiting with people.

Dolores is survived by her husband, James Wenzel, Sr., Jamestown; one son, James, Jr. (Pam) Wenzel, Jamestown; one daughter, Vicki (Dean) Ulmer, Jamestown; three grandchildren, Jennifer Ulmer, Grand Forks, ND, Abby Wenzel and Brian Wenzel, both of Jamestown; two sisters, Mary (Ron) Sanford, Renton, WA and Janet (John) Kraft, Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m, Friday, June 10, 2011 at First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown, with Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
