Donald Chadduck, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.
Donald was born May 19, 1912 in Round Top Township, near Buchanan, ND the son of Guy and Marie (Wicks) Chadduck. His mother died in 1918 and he was raised by his father, Guy, and his aunts, Georgia and Flora. He attended school in Round Top Township. During the depression he traveled with his to be brother-in-law, Elmer Rude, to pick potatoes. Don entered the US Navy on December 18, 1942 in Jamestown and spent three years as a seabee in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WW II. He was discharged on December 30, 1945 as a carpenters mate. Don married Mary Elinor Foster on February 22, 1949 in Jamestown. From 1949-1956 they farmed the original homestead. They later moved to Buchanan where he worked for the Buchanan Elevator until his retirement in 1978. Don went to work for David and Mike Boyle for several seasons. In 1988 they moved to Jamestown. Mary died January 2, 2001.
Don was a lifetime member of the Elks and VFW. He enjoyed reading, gardening, especially his gladiolas, woodworking, bowling and playing cribbage.
Don is survived by his two sons; Douglas (Ann Knechtel) Chadduck, Fremont, CA and David (Linda) Chadduck, Jamestown; four grandchildren; Jennifer Chadduck, Joshua Chadduck, Leslie Knechtel and Sean Chadduck and one sister, Bonnie Rude, Butte, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters.
Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Friday, June 3, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Stuart officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Buchanan Cemetery, Buchanan, North Dakota.
