Donald B. Cofell

Donald B. Cofell, 54, Berlin, ND, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN.

Donald was born August 17, 1957 at Kenmare, ND, the son of Douglas and Myrna (Mechling) Cofell. They lived at Velva, ND before moving to the farm in Edgeley, ND in 1960. He attended Edgeley schools and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1975. He is a 1978 graduate of the North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, where he studied auto body and small engine repair. Donald worked in farming, Edgeley Service and Repair and John Deere. On June 13, 1987 Donald married Mary Schlecht.

Donald enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, stock car and sprint car racing. He was talented in the mechanical field and enjoyed it. He loved spending time with his children and grandson.

Donald is survived by his wife, Mary; seven children, Tanner (Jenny Fortmann) Cofell, Buxton, ND, Casey Cofell, LaMoure, ND, Shelby Cofell, Fargo, ND, Taylor, Courtney, Hannah and Joshua Cofell, all of LaMoure; one grandson, Parker John Cofell, Buxton; mother, Myrna Cofell, Edgeley; three brothers, Daniel Cofell, West Lebanon, NH, Douglas Cofell, Wahpeton and David Cofell, Edgeley; and two sisters, Wanyce Cofell, Gwinner, ND and Lori Hoots, Edgeley.

He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents, Byrl & Evelyn Cofell and Daniel & Margaret Mechling.
