Donald J. Harr, 92, Jamestown, ND died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.
Donald "Don" was born July 23, 1920 in Woodworth, ND, the son of Jacob and Anna (Oswald) Harr. He grew up and attended rural schools near Woodworth. Don enlisted in the US Army on October 15, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN and served in the European Theater. Upon his honorable discharge on November 15, 1945 he returned to North Dakota. He worked for Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroad as a carman for 30 years. On July 18, 1949 he married Julia "Judy" Serba in Jamestown, where they made their home. Judy died April 11, 2000.
Don was a member of the Jamestown Seventh Day Adventist Church, Jamestown VFW and Cooties. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, attending sporting events and coffee with his buddies.
Don is survived by two sons, Gregory (Deborah) Harr and Timothy (Sheila) Harr, both of Jamestown; two grandsons, Peter Harr and Josh (Danielle) Harr; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nicholas; and two sisters, Catherine Stroh, Jamestown and Leora Thompson, Kennewick, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers and three sisters.
