Donald A. \""Al\"" Lawrence, 63, Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, December 10, 2010 in Trinidad, Colorado.
Donald was born August 3, 1947 in Jamestown, the son of Donald L. and Bernice (Bagan) Lawrence. He attended Eckelson Elementary school through 2nd grade and Lincoln School in Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1965. He was active in FFA throughout high school. Donald entered the US Navy in 1965. On February 24, 1968 Donald married Susan Shirley. He worked on Lawrence & Sons Stock Farm/Lawrence Farms all his life. He also worked at Thompson Motor Homes, Martin's Radio/TV, RM Stoudt, Inc. and TMT Farms. Donald married Carol McCarty on June 26, 2004.
Donald was a member of the Jamestown School Board for 3 years, the Stutsman County Fair Board for 23 years, member of the Bloom Oil Board of Directors, the Klose Elevator Board of Directors, the Eagles Club and the Congregational Church. He was nominated for the ND Farmer of the Year, won a National Conservation Award and was presented a ND Centennial Farm Award in 1983.
He was an avid big game hunter with his cousin, Gary, but his passion was farming. Even after his retirement, he had to be involved in farming, and TMT Farms provided him that special opportunity.
Donald is survived by his wife, Carol, Jamestown; three children, Mark Lawrence, Rigby, ID, Michelle (Jason) Metzger, Edmonds, OK and Jared (Amanda) Lawrence, Jamestown; four grandchildren, Breanna (Scott) Brethauer, Kersey, CO, Trenton Taulman, Greeley, CO and Jake and Jenna Metzger, Edmond, OK; four sisters, Jane (Milt) Ketterling, Warsaw, MN, June (Merle) Nagel, San Diego, CA, Mary (Mike Kuchenski) Lawrence, Dickinson, ND and Patricia Lawrence, Jamestown; two brothers, William (Lynn) Lawrence, Eden Prairie, MN and George (Sharon) Lawrence, Lakewood, CO; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Clow, Pharr, TX, Pat (Ken) VanBeek, Mandan, ND and Kathy (Roy) Weber, Puryear, TN, 12 nieces and nephews; Uncle Albert B. Lawrence, Aunt Elsie Lawrence, both of Jamestown, Aunt Delores Bagan, Jamestown and numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, December 17 at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Randy Jaspers officiating.
Visitation: 1:00PM to 6:30 PM, Thursday, December 16 at Eddy Funeral Home

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
