Donald Prindle

Donald Prindle, 79, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Jamestown Hospital.

Donald was born July 16, 1929 in Park Ridge, IL, the son of Leonard and Ethel (Umbach) Prindle. He grew up and attended school in Park Ridge. After his schooling, he served in the United States Air Force from September of 1947 to September of 1951 achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in Germany and other locations overseas. In 1954, he married Metta Mae Schreiber in Elgin, IL and they moved to California where Don was employed by Operating Engineers. Following his retirement, they moved to Payson, AZ where, in December of 1990, he was critically injured in an auto accident which claimed the life of Metta Mae.

On April 1, 1992, Don married Esther F. "Mickey" Boyer in Lake Tahoe, NV. They lived in Payson, AZ until 2001 when they moved to Edgeley, ND and later to Jamestown, ND.

Donald enjoyed woodworking and was once known as the "shelf elf". He also enjoyed playing cards, travel, bowling and working on creative projects. He was an avid supporter of several veterans' organizations.

Don considered the staff of Medcenter One's Renal Dialysis Unit at Jamestown Hospital as part of his extended family, holding all near and dear to his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Mickey; a step-son, Patrick Axtell, AZ; a granddaughter, Brittany Kay Axtell, Payson, AZ; one sister, Geraldine Buchholz, Rockford, IL; one brother, Robert Ronald Prindle, Brighton, CO and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Metta Mae; 5 brothers: Edgar, Albert, Leonard, George and Roy; and 3 sisters: Marion Benson, Dorothy Prindle and Jacqueline Ramirez.

In honor of his personal wishes, there will be no formal services; although, it is our hope that all who knew and loved him will always remember his wonderful sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye.
