Donald Rosemore

December 31, 1921 — April 22, 2003

Donald ""Swede"" Rosemore, 81, Eldridge, North Dakota died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Jamestown Hospital. Donald was born December 31, 1921 on the family farm north of Windsor to George and Mary (Komoraski) Rosemore. He attended country school northeast of the farm until 8th grade. He joined the National Guard in 1940 and went to New York in 1942, then on to Europe on the Queen Elizabeth. Donald was sent to France in 1943 where he served as a chef during WWII. He was discharged on December 12, 1945. Upon his return to the States, he worked for his sister & brother-in-law for a year on the farm. In 1946 he went to Oregon and worked for the Concrete Block Company which was owned by his sister, Lola (Charlie) Hapner. Donald moved back to Jamestown in 1947 and mixed mortar for plaster for several years for Frank Clemens. He married Elizabeth Hastings in 1952 in Jamestown. Swede started working for the North Dakota State Hospital in 1961 and retired from there in 1986.

Swede enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, dancing and watching baseball. He belonged to the Jamestown Eagles, the VFW and the Dakota Anglers.

He is survived by three sons, Darrell (Jeanne), Jamestown; Keith, Minneapolis, MN and Randy (Karen), Jamestown, two daughters, LeighAnn Rosemore (Dennis Sorensen), Plentywood, MT and Jodi Rosemore, Minneapolis, MN, seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, a twin brother, Ronald ""Chet"" (Marinda), Jamestown, one sister, Dorothy (Jim) Carlascio, Jamestown and a special companion, Elsie Suko, Windsor, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Larry & Gordon and five sisters, Lola, Ceclia, Florence, Josephine and Catherine.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, April 25, 2003 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
