Doris L. Erickson

Doris L. Erickson, 90, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.

Doris Loretta Hawkes was born August 5, 1923 on a farm near Sutton, ND, the 4th of 5 children born to Bernard and Adeline (Koch) Hawkes. She graduated from Glenfield High School. She spent summers and several years after graduating high school in River Forest, Illinois. She then returned to Glenfield, ND. On October 6, 1945 Doris married Harland Erickson in Carrington, ND. They remained in Glenfield until 1992 when they moved to Jamestown.

Along with raising six children, Doris was active in the Glenfield Lutheran Church, Band Mothers, Homemakers and Eastern Star. After moving to Jamestown, Doris was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church. She also belonged to the Fine Arts Association and had an upholstery business from 1965-1985. She then built and sold dollhouses at the Frontier Village. She also enjoyed growing flowers, painting, sewing, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children: Barry (Carolyn) Erickson, Lewiston, ID, Diane (George) Helmstetler, Jamestown, Jill Wallner, Highlands Ranch, CO, Mark (Debbie) Erickson, West Fargo, ND, Nancy (Tim) Anderson, Sutton, ND and Craig (Jeannie) Erickson, Englevale, ND;11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Lester Hawkes, Marion Jones, Helen Murray and Bob Hawkes.
