Doris Gatz, 92, Jametown, North Dakota died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.

Doris Winnifred Brewer was born October 7, 1912 in Havana, Illinois the daughter of Millard and Margaret (Tomlin) Brewer. She moved to North Dakota at the age of 13 to live with her Uncle Robert & Aunt Bessie Wilson and their children in rural Monango, who became her close family. Doris married Prosper Adam Gatz on April 27, 1935 at the farm in rural Monango. They farmed near Sydney and Adrian, later moving west of Monango where they farmed until moving to Jamestown in 1960.

Doris worked for the Anne Carlsen Center for Children in Jamestown for several years. She entered Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in October of 2003.

Doris was a 4-H leader for many years, being recognized for outstanding leadership. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, the Friendship Circle, Wild Rose Homemakers Club, Prairie Rose Garden Club, and the Good Neighbors Club. Doris enjoyed arts and crafts, her flower gardens and any opportunity to socialize with her friends and neighbors.

Doris is survived by her two children, Harriet (Nels) Lien, Ypsilanti, ND and Lawrence (Kathleen) Gatz, Watertown, SD, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two special cousins, Lorraine (John) Knecht, Hillsborn, ND and Richard Wilson, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; Aunt & Uncle, Robert & Bessie Wilson and cousin, Harriet White.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, April 15, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Ypsilanti Cemetery, Ypsilanti, North Dakota.
