Doris Schaack

Doris B. Schaack, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Grace City, North Dakota, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown, North Dakota.

Doris B. Bredahl was born on June 21, 1925 at Kensal, North Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Engebretson) Bredahl. Doris attended Kensal grade school and graduated from Kensal High School. She graduated from Fargo Beauty College and worked in Kenmare for one year and Carrington for three years as a beautician.

On April 23, 1954, Doris married Vincent Schaack in the Methodist Church in Kensal, ND. Together they owned and operated Grace City Grocery from 1963 until 1976, when Vincent passed away on January 24. Doris continued to operate the store until 1983. She moved to Jamestown in 1995.

Doris was a member of the Grace City United Methodist Church. She was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and the Minnesota Twins. She is well known for thousands of home-weaved rugs she made. Family was very important to Doris. She will be greatly missed.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Allen) Ostenson; her son, Byron (Tina) Schaack; her grandchildren, Trevor Ostenson, Alisha (Warren) Grenz, Kelsie Schaack and Caden Schaack; her great-granddaughter, Liddia Grenz, all of Jamestown; sister, Violet Gulstad, Glenfield, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son and one daughter; two brothers, Calver and Edwin; and an infant granddaughter, Bethany Schaack.
