Dorothy Isakson, 88, Bismarck, North Dakota, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Maple View Community in Bismarck.

Dorothy Marguerite Hess was born January 16, 1920 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Hedberg) Hess. She received her educaton in St. Paul and in Minneapolis. She was employed at the Pure Oil Company in Minneapolis, The American Hoist and Derrick Company, and the Northern Pacific Railway in St. Paul. She married Charles Beda Isakson April 19, 1947 at Christ Episcopal Church, St. Paul, MN. They moved to Mandan, ND in September of 1947 and later lived in Roseville, MN, Billings, MT and in 1960 moved to Jamestown. While in Jamestown Dorothy was employed at KSJB Radio Station and the North Dakota State Hospital. Charles died on February 12, 1995. In 2007 Dorothy moved to Bismarck where her home as been since.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Grace Guild, Women of Grace, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter AS, Lady Washington Chapter #1, Order of Eastern Star, Order of Rainbow Grand Cross of Color, Svenska Vanner, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Veteran's Assoc., James River Rails, Stutsman County Bank Good Neighbors Club, AARP, and active in various other organizations.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Coulter, Broadus, MT; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Isakson, Bismarck, ND; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother and one sister.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Friday, June 13, 2008 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, with Father Kevin Goodrich officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown and one hour before the service at the church.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
