Dorothy Van Ornum, 87, of Edgeley, ND, died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Cancer Center in St. Paul, MN.
Dorothy was born January 29, 1925, in Kent, OH, the daughter of Era and Louise (Dormaier) Littrick. She lived in Cuyahoga Falls, OH and attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School. Dorothy attended Mt. Union College in 1942 in Alliance, OH. On July 16, 1944, she and Elbert Hiel Van Ornum were engaged and married on September 20, 1945. After living in Cuyahoga Falls for a short time, they moved to the Arthur Van Ornum farm near Berlin, ND in 1948. They settled on their own farm in 1954 near Berlin where they raised their three children and a nephew, Thomas Frederick.
The Van Ornum family moved to Edgeley in 1966 where Dorothy lived until her final illness.
Dorothy was a member of Federated Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, Beauceant, Berlin Birthday Club, Homemakers, Bridge Club, Community of Christ Church, Church choir, Deborah Circle, United Methodist Women, and Alpha Chi Omega.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Marilyn (fiancé, David Johnson) Van Ornum, Minneapolis, MN, Joanne (Thomas Heck) Lerud-Heck, Arvada, CO, and Barry (Sheila) Van Ornum, Woodbury, MN; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Jane Roppolo.

4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley.
Prayer Service:
7:30 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley.
Interment:
Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, ND.
