Dorothy J. Vedvig, 80, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Jamestown Hospital.
Dorothy Johnson was born April 29, 1926 in Stanley, ND, the daughter of Fred and Alma (Haugen) Johnson. She grew up and attended school in Stanley. During WWII she lived and worked in Washington for one year. Upon her return to Stanley she worked in various cafes. On April 2, 1955 Dorothy married Duane Vedvig in Stanley. They lived there until 1960 when they moved to Jamestown where they raised their family. After her children were grown, she worked with her husband at Northern Improvement as a bookkeeper.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxilliary.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Duane, of Jamestown; daughter, Tena (Lyle) Lawrence, Jamestown; son, Corwyn Stowell, Witchita, KS; three grandchildren, Megan & Jessica Lawrence and Adam Gaiser; and two sisters, Marcella Lokken, Lebanon, OR and Gladys Chase, Grand Forks, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Hal Vedvig; one daughter, Merrie Gaiser; one sister, Ileen and two brothers, Milford and Ernest.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, April 13, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Burial: Higland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
