Duane Kurtz Sr.

Duane C. ""Pops"" Kurtz, Sr., 70, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Mr. Kurtz was born April 8, 1935 in Jamestown, the son of Carl and Katherine (Taylor) Kurtz. He attended school in Eldridge, ND. He farmed with his parents north of Eldridge and later south of Windsor. Duane was employed by Melland's and Standard Oil, both in Jamestown, as a diesel mechanic. He worked at Super K Gas Station in Cleveland for 12 years.

He was a Little League baseball coach for many years, a member of the Eagles club and an avid gardener. He enjoyed taking his kids hunting and fishing.

Duane is survived by his children: Duane, Jr. (Teresa) Kurtz, Jamestown, Darwin (Melissa) Kurtz, Huron, SD, Devern Kurtz, Sheraton,WY and Deb (Jeff) Russell, Kensal, ND; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dennis and one sister, Ethel Clemens.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating. At the memorial service, family and friends are invited to bring pictures and memories to share.
