Duane L. Thomas, 63, Pingree, North Dakota, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at his home under the care of hospice.
Duane was born September 27, 1945 in Harvey, ND, the son of Louie and Rose (Fenner) Thomas. He grew up in Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1963. He married Alice Pillatzke on July 11, 1964. They moved to Jamestown where Duane worked at Midwest Motors until 1968. He managed the Northwest Y until 1970 when he started his own trucking company, Roadrunner Trucking. He also did some trucking for Gabor Trucking and the Buchanan Elevator. He retired in 1978 due to health problems.
Duane enjoyed stock car racing, NASCAR, coin and gun collecting, going to the casino, his dogs and hanging around Thomas Motors visiting with friends and family.
Duane is survived by his wife, Alice, Pingree; two sons, Jerry (Susan) Thomas, Edmunds, ND, and Troy Thomas, Pingree; two daughters, LeAnn Thomas (Redge Nohrenberg), Jamestown and Holly Thomas, Jamestown; 14 grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Rose and Arlie Rud, Pingree; one sister, Peggy (Fred) Hillen, West Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and three brothers in infancy, twins, Mike & Louie, and Jon.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Pingree Lutheran Church, Pingree, ND, with Candyce Wick officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota
