Dwane D. Chura, 79, of Jamestown, ND died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, ND.
Dwane D. Chura was born July 21, 1926 in Marblehead, OH to George and Mary (Neva) Chura. He entered the US Army during World War II and served in Okinawa, Japan. He was discharged on September 9, 1947 as a private first class. Dwane worked for an airplane manufacturing company in California before marrying Lucy Miemietz on June 15, 1956 in Yuma, AZ. They moved to Jamestown where he worked for area farmers, including Frank Sova, north of Jamestown. Dwane later worked for R.M. Stoudt Ford Garage, then Scherbenske & Son Excavation in Jamestown. Most recently, he was employed by Wilde Construction, now Mastec, Inc.
Dwane is survived by one son, Jeff Chura, Jamestown; one daughter, Joni (Loren) Dalke, Jamestown; one grandson, Jeremy Chura, Devils Lake, ND; and five sisters, Dorothy Meikle, Jamestown, Mabel (Dennis) Tinker, Jamestown, Bonnie (Lyle) Thelander, Columbus, IN, Donna (Jerome) Walinski, Little Falls, MN, Darlene (Richard) Hovland, Royalton, MN; two brothers, LeRoy (Karen) Walker, Little Falls, MN and Eldon Walker, Little Falls, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; two brothers, John ""Jack"" Chura and Robert Walker.
Funeral Mass: 10:30AM, Wednesday, January 11, 2005 at the Basilica of St. James with Father Al Bitz officiating.
Visitation: Tuesday, January 10, 2005 from 9:00AM to 8:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
