Edith L.""Dede"" Dresser, 100, died at her home on Friday, January 17, 2003 in Spiritwood, N.D.
Edith Long was born on May 18, 1902, at her parental home in White Bear Lake, MN the daughter of Henry J. and Dot Lucy (Ball) Long.
Edith was one of 12 children. She attended school in White Bear, attended Business School in St. Paul and was employed as a personal stenographer to a CEO of the Great Northern railway.
She was united in marriage to C.E, ""Gene"" Dresser at the Presbyterian Church in White Bear Lake, MN on September 29th, 1928. They made their home in Spiritwood, N.D. and she resided in the same home until her death.
Edith, at the time of her death, was the oldest living Past President of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in the state of North Dakota. She was a past president of the Social Order of the Beauceant, and Past President of the Lady Washington Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Edith was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, N.D. After her husband's death in 1982 Edith became an advocate for exercise and attributed her longevity to swimming at the ""Y"" 1000 miles plus. Edith rode her exercise bike daily up to the time of her death. Edith enjoyed crocheting, listening to her beloved ""Twins Games"" and the ""Vikings.""
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Beverly, and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean (George) Thom, of Deer River, MN and Joan (Del) Martin, of Jamestown, N.D.; five grandsons, Ronald and Ryan Thom, Robert, Donald, and Kevin Martin, and one granddaughter, Rebecca Breyer. There are eight Great Grandchildren. She has one surviving sibling, Phyllis DeLonais, White Bear Lake, MN and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. - Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. David Thompson officiating.
