Edith Hirchert

Edith S. Hirchert, 89, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, January 12, 2004 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.

Edith Schlager Hirchert was born May 2, 1914 at Winnipeg, Canada the daughter of George and Louise (Bohl) Schlager. She came to the United States with her parents as an infant and they lived north of Lake Williams and later north of Robinson where she grew up and attended school. She met Donald Hirchert and they were married August 27, 1933. They farmed for one year north of Robinson and then moved to Lodi, California in 1934. They returned to North Dakota in 1939 and went to work for the Axel West Farm for two years. They farmed in the Robinson area until the fall of 1966 and then they moved to Valley City, ND. Edith worked as head housekeeper at the Sheyenne Care Center until she retired in 1979. They moved to Jamestown in 1991. Don passed away in November 1996. In February 2001 she entered Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.

Edith is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest & Monica Hirchert, Cape Canaveral, FL and Milton & Karen Hirchert, Robinson, ND; six grandchildren, Brenda & Mike Dornbusch, Dale & Cynthia Hirchert, Mark Hirchert, Kyle Hirchert, Denise & George Belohlavek and Diane & Alvin Fitterer; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy & Chase Dornbusch, Lindsey Hirchert, Matthew & Brittany Belohlavek, Brandon & Tiffany Fitterer; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Alvina Schaefer, Drake, ND; Clara & Lyle Posey, Fruitland, ID; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn & Faye Schlager, Jamestown, ND and a special friend, Vivian Hirchert, Titusville, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Olga Orner & Mary Hinsz, three brothers, John, Albert & Edward Schlager and two grandchildren, Kevin & Donna Hirchert.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
